My last blog post was about what was up with me and my own medical diagnosis and all of that jazz. Unfortunately, the best-laid plans of mice and men because a good friend of mine was in a serious accident. So, instead of spending the last three or four weeks working feverishly on Dragon’s book, I spent it running back and forth between hospitals, doctors appointments, and a transitional care unit being the best friend I could possibly be.
Absolutely no regrets.
However, it’s forced me to reorder my plans a bit. There is absolutely no way I am going to be able to finish A Brother’s Salvation before I go under the knife, which was my intention. I can’t focus for shit lately between my medical crisis, my friend’s medical crisis, and the current trademarking crisis the whole of indie book world is facing.
The best I can do is try to write some short stories filling in the gaps, which is what I am doing whenever I can spare a moment between the aforementioned crisis trifecta and marketing for the upcoming release of A Low Blue Flame.
TL;DR best pray I don’t die on June 7th, or the SHMC will never be finished.
(Gallows humor, you serve me well in times like these.)
I’m tired. I’m scared. I’m frustrated with doctors and medical facilities and specialists, and all that comes with them. The paperwork, the insurance companies, all of it and it’s making it really hard to concentrate on being creative when it gets this tough but I’m trying for you guys. Believe me.
I have managed to write one 3,200 word short story and I am in the midst of working on another to wrap up some loose ends in the SHMC universe. They’re stacking up quite nicely and will eventually be put into a collection for you guys. I’m looking for some input, so if there is an aspect of the series you want to know more about or a deeper glimpse you want into one or more of the couples, you never know what I could find inspiring. Please feel free to email me your suggestions to: email@example.com and you might get what your heart desires.
For now, I might be scarce for a few days on social media while I try to get my head on straight and find my creativity again.
Wish me luck with all of this.
